WHY ADEO BELIEVES A ‘PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT’ IS IMPORTANT?

Structured Commercial Consultancy Agreements such as professional service contract’s are integral to the entire supply chain process within our industry and particularly within our business which forms the basis for a collaborative working partnership.

The purpose of having Governance Approved agreements in place with Clients, is that it covers and manages items such as being IR35 compliant, appropriate level of PI in place, and pre-agreed rates or costs for the specific level of service provisions required such as Commercial or Planning Support.

The intangible benefits that are derived from structured and focused PSCs are that they enable both parties to focus on the most important factor, the scope of the actual commercial need together with capturing the key areas below:

·      Minimise risk.
·      Avoids ambiguity.
·      Provides transparency.
·      Outlines scope of works
·      Mitigates project creep.
·      Reduces disputes and misunderstanding.

PSCs provide the platform for more efficient planning and predictability for our clients’ projects, thus allowing us to allocate the resources clients require just when they need them. This in turn improves our ability to meet client deadlines and maintain high-quality work.

Furthermore, these agreements provide a clear understanding of our clients’ expectations and enable us to manage them efficiently. This predictability fosters a smoother workflow, reducing stress and enhancing overall performance.

Adeo Support Young Talent

Isla Thomas’s Last 5 Years:


I joined Adeo Global Consulting Ltd in 2019 straight out of university, having completed a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.

In my first couple of years at Adeo I gained experience working for a mixture of both Main Contractors and Subcontractors. These roles required an element of change support, from retrospective valuations to determining variations and compensations. They also required me to have a comprehension of Contracts.  This hands-on experience led me to develop my knowledge of contracts and to gain a better understanding of construction law.

In 2021 I was delighted when Adeo afforded me the opportunity to undertake a MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Kings College London. While undertaking this highly intensive and insightful course I was also able to participate in several Adjudications alongside our Managing Director, Ian Brazier. This meant I was able to not only acquire an academic understanding of the Adjudication process but also to apply this understanding by gaining hands on experience of the process, which I believe is key to progression.  
I completed my MSc degree in September 2023 and got to celebrate this milestone at my graduation this month. I am now currently utilising this achievement by continuing to develop my career with Adeo by gaining further experience in all things contractual and dispute resolution.

Our new editions are already settling into their respective secondments across the civils space, Amanda is also returning to Adeo for the second time which is testament to the culture here at Adeo. Industry Insight: The Current State of the UK Construction Recruitment Market

According to the CITB the UK construction industry is set for a shortfall of workers in the region of 250,000 by 2027, which poses a significant risk to one of the UK’s biggest industries. However, it is not all doom and gloom, especially if you are a Quantity Surveyor! The reason we mention this is that there is a great deal of scope for delays and increased project costs across the board, therefore there will be increased requirement for top commercial support in the coming years. Between now and 2030 there has never been a greater need for projects to finish on time and within budget, I believe that to be a Quantity Surveyor now is not only an exciting occupation, but potentially very lucrative one!

New Office

We are delighted to announce the opening of our regional office in Peterborough.
Louisa Griffiths Regional Director picked up the keys to our new office last month and has
wasted no time in getting to work.

Louisa is accountable for strategically expanding the business within the North and Midlands
regions, supporting current and future clients with the provision of interim support and
resource management.

Experience gained within large corporate organizations and SME’s enables a proactive and
robust approach to generating new business opportunities whilst appropriately influencing
and challenging senior level stakeholders and clients. Responsible for leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team accountable for the
delivery of a wide range of projects for a variety of clients across the full project and commercial lifecycle within the Infrastructure Sector and on Mixed-Use Developments.
